Our Team of Growers

Over the years we’ve assembled a team of friends, family, neighbors, and volunteers to grow a variety of leafy greens, medicinal herbs, sprouts, flowers, microgreens, and seasonal fruits, and share the bounty under the shade of grapevines.

Michael Wood

FOUNDER & URBAN FARMER

“Mike” grew up in the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley, going to Citrus College to study forestry and plant identification with Prof. Goodman and gained inspiration to start gardening from chemistry professor David Ryba. Mike later studied plant science at Cal Poly Pomona where he learned from his peers about the urban farming movement. After several years of developing gardening experience and cultivating an interest in water gardening, he started spending Sundays at the Atwater Village farmers market as a vegetable vendor, where he has held a farmstand for the last 10 years. Mike likes to encourage friends and family to eat more salads and run for mental health. He manages a half acre backyard farm with his wife Mandy at her childhood home in Sierra Madre.
